Coming Soon To A Theater Near You…[Updated!]

- or – “You’ve Got To Fight! For Your Right! To Slurrrrrrrrrpee!

Often times the work I do for clients winds up as something internal and I’m not able to share it here as I’d like. Other times though, things swing in the other direction, and this is one those times. This past week I’ve been working on what will be one of the highest visibility projects I’ve been a part of as a shooter and I can’t wait to share.

I got a call last weekend saying that there was an ad in the works that would be shot around New York entirely in timelapse and would I be interested in doing some of the shooting? Of course that sounded pretty good to me, so I said “absolutely!” It turned out they had seen my timelapse project “Metropolis” and that the ad is a piece for the New Yorkers for Beverage Choices in opposition of the proposed “large soda ban” here in the city (here’s a New York Times piece on the campaign so far). I found myself in excellent company, with Jonathan Yi, Andrew Wonder, and Brett Albright all shooting timelapses for the project too, and the production being run by the great folks at Evolve Post. All told I did four days of filming around Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan and grabbed some great stuff.

As far as where it’s going to be playing, if you’re in the New York area, it’s going to be pretty hard to avoid. It’s a 30-second spot which will begin airing on all of the NY broadcast networks very soon, and once it’s online I’ll be posting it here too. Better still it’s going to be playing at many local theaters before the previews starting on the Wednesday the 4th (Regal theaters for sure, to begin with). I’m pretty excited about this since it’ll be the first time I’ve seen any of my timelapses in a proper theater.

I hope many of you will get the chance to see it, I’m proud to have this work reach such a large audience. Check back here soon and keep an eye on the blog for a few more awesome things in the works. It’s going to be a great summer!
